How do you describe five years of a city's life in ten minutes?  Allison Plyer of the Greater New Orleans Community Data Center [1] does just that in GNOCDC’s youtube briefing [2] on The New Orleans Index at Five [3], a comprehensive assessment of the city’s recovery five years after the storm and the failure of the levees.

In the five years since Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and the levees broke, residents have developed innovative approaches to tackling some of the city’s—and the nation’s—most persistent problems: criminal justice reform, unresponsive government, and racial and economic inequality.
